Mountain lion attack in neighborhood: Please be careful with your families and pets!
Nancy from Bailey has asked me to share this with all of you:

Last night, at 9:30, our beloved Riley, an eight-year-old Bearded Collie, was attacked and killed by a mountain lion on our lower deck. She sat there every night, it was her safe place right next to our bedroom windows. We were all home and we heard the attack–when we ran down to the deck my daughter saw the mountain lion leap off the deck and run down the hill. We were able to take her to Evergreen Animal Hospital but her head injuries were so severe that she died soon after. We called the Division of Wildlife this morning to report this attack, and they said that it was very unusual for a mountain lion to attack a medium-sized dog so close to a house. The deck is really just three-foot-wide walkway along our lower level with nothing on it to attract a wild animal. The Division said that this is rare for Evergreen, but in Boulder the mountain lions come up to houses for medium-to-large dogs all the time.

This is a reminder that we live in a really wild environment–please be careful with your families and pets whenever it is dark out. Turn on lights and make noise when going outside or walking your dogs. We think attacks only happen at dawn and dusk, but this was full dark and in the safety of our home, with lights on and people home.

Take care everyone!

*THUNDER SHIRT   View Product Page

With its patent-pending design, Thundershirt’s gentle, constant pressure has a dramatic calming effect for most dogs if they are anxious, fearful or over-excited. Based on surveys completed by over two thousand customers, over 80% of dogs show significant improvement in symptoms when using Thundershirt. Thundershirt is already helping tens of thousands of dogs around the world, and is recommended by thousands of veterinarians and dog trainers.

As for WHY Thundershirt’s gentle pressure works to calm a dog, experts such as Dr. Temple Grandin believe that pressure has a calming effect on the nervous system. Using pressure to relieve anxiety has been a common practice for years. For example:

* TTouch dog trainers use pressure to address a wide variety of anxieties.
* Veterinarians use pressure to relax cattle when they are administering vaccinations.
* People with autism use pressure to relieve their persistent anxiety.
* Children with certain behavioral problems use pressure shirts and weighted vests to relax and focus.
* Parents use swaddling to calm an inconsolable newborn infant.

Until now, there just hasn’t been a well-designed, inexpensive pressure wrap commonly used for dog anxiety. Thundershirt is changing that! Thousands of veterinarians and dog trainers now recommend Thundershirts for their anxiety cases.

Uses: Fear of thunder/fireworks, separation anxiety, travel anxiety, crate training, problem barking, hyperactivity, leash pulling, and more!

Testimonials:
“Pressure wraps are an effective, non-invasive way to help dogs to feel more at ease. I like the Thundershirt especially because of its soft material, easy-to-apply Velcro closures, and low cost. I recommend this product to my training clients for thunderstorm phobias, nail trims, and a variety of other fears such as sounds, riding in the car, and generalized fear of walking outdoors. I wish the Thundershirt had been around when my thunder-phobic German Shepherd was alive. I’m glad dogs everywhere can now reap its benefits.”

“I have used Thundershirt with my own dog and have seen a real improvement with her fear of thunderstorms and other loud noises. I am now recommending Thundershirt to my clients with good results.”

They help alleviate stress-induced behaviors such as:

* Separation anxiety
* Inappropriate marking
* Chewing and destructive behaviors
* Anti-social behaviors

The Good Behavior Pheromone Collars help dogs and cats improve their behavior by reducing the anxiety caused by things such as:

* New people and animals
*New homes
* Separation anxiety
* Noise from thunder and fireworks
* Trips to the vet
* Boarding

The Good Behavior collars release pheromones, a scent substance that mother dogs and cats produce to calm their young. Calming pheromones are released for up to 30 days, making this an easy and affordable way to treat pet anxiety.

*PET ESSENCES ANXIETY/FEAR RELIEF DROPS

View Product Page

Animals are very responsive to the energetic healing properties of Flower Essences. These energetic bouquets are both dynamic and gentle in their transformational abilities.

ANIMALS have emotions, attitudes and personalities just like humans. To care for an animal, it is helpful to observe the animal and learn how to distinguish between normal regular behavior and behavior that is unusual and out of balance. Pets often reflect the emotions of the people close to them and the environment in which they live. Emotions such as fear or anxiety or worry or depression can lead to dis-ease because they deplete the physical body of its natural vitality, thereby compromising the immune systems ability to function properly. By using the appropriate Flower Essences to balance emotional attitudes, subtle changes occur that bring renewed energy forward and short circuit the path to illness.

We have organized our flower essence formulas so that it is easy to select the appropriate Pet Essence. Don’t worry about choosing an inappropriate essence. They will not harm animals, or people, as they are self correcting- meaning that there are no unwanted side effects. Sometimes there are responses that may seem surprising but that is because each creature has a personal way of making changes in their own being. Flower essences are easy to use and are very economical. Our stock bottles can be diluted with water or used directly out of the bottle. PET ESSENCES® are formulated from flowers infused in water and preserved in brandy.

Use directly from bottle or dilute 7 drops of Stock Concentrate in 1 oz. water and put a dropper full of this diluted essence in drinking water 4x a day or as needed. Put them in drinking water, directly in mouth, or drop on paws. You can put them in a spray bottle and spray an animal’s kennel, sleeping area or coat. Put in bath water. Rub into your hands and pet the animal! In a time of stress, a crisis, or after an accident, it is best to give EMERGENCY , every few seconds or every few minutes until the situation changes. Carry this combination with you at all times. You never know when an emergency will occur.
